''The Knowing:'' (2009)

The Knowing (2009): ‘’Two Thumbs Down.’’

"The Knowing" is by far one of the worst movies that I've recently seen. The movie strongly emphasizes scientific controversies. Apparently, it also mixes together science along with biblical references. Ergo, the solar flares scene towards the end of the film can be widely regarded as somewhat of a reference to the apocalypse, A.K.A ‘’End of Planet Earth.’’

However, what really caught my attention was the ending scene. Caleb Koestler, (Chandler Canterbury) Nicholas Cage´s son in the movie appears running towards a tree with "Abby" daughter of Rose (Diana Wayland) that ironically dies in the movie as well. Despite the fact that this scene is set to portray both characters running towards the ‘’Tree of Life,’’ it contradicts other references while bringing up some questions and uncertainty. One cannot help but remain indulged. However, it’s all very confusing. Thus, if one were to look at this through a biblical perspective, the scene’s intent is to depict some sort of a biblical reference towards "Adam and Eve" repopulating the so called "new earth."

The chronological order of the script is horrendous. This is by far one of Nicholas Cage’s worse acting performances and terrible choice of movie cast. I’m not surprised that the movie received a mere 42% approval out of 100% according to Rotten Tomatoes. I really expected a little more out of this Sci-fi Thriller. I've provided a link of the trailer below for any of you spectators interested in getting a better glimpse.
